Dearest Elder Isaac,
What a fun week!
- Emmy left for YW camp on Monday morning
- Dad and I left for Vernal Tuesday morning and attended the funeral for Dad's cousin's wife, Kandice Searle. She was only 43. So sad.
- We spent Tuesday evening and Wednesday in the Basin. It's so lovely there! With Dad's injury I needed to help more than I usually do. I:
- helped Papa get things mowed
- helped Dad get Rod's trailer cover off
- packed Brook's trailer cover into its barrel and otherwise helped clean a few things out of the big container
- Emmy got hit by a surfboard while at camp, so I also got to help her leaders deal with getting her stitches over the phone - I had to fill out all the paperwork and stuff since she's a minor. The leaders seemed pretty stressed about it, but Emmy just handled it like the pro that she is. She's hoping it will give her a cool scar above her eyebrow.
- I got to go to a special organ class on organ theory at my teacher's house. It was awesome! And I learned about another organ book that will help me learn the dominant seventh chord, so I bought a couple organ books.
- Lily and I went to the temple on Friday and then picked up our race packets
- Dad and I were going to fly up Rexburg for Brinley's reception up there, but the weather turned rough before I was ready to go. Sigh.
- Lily and I ran the Drop13 Half Marathon on Saturday. She beat me by at least 15-20 minutes, but we ran the first 5.5 miles together. I ran this one 10-ish minutes faster than the one I ran in June, which was super happy for me!
- Lily flew to CA to do FSY for two weeks on Saturday afternoon. I will miss her,
- Dad (with a small bit of help from me) got new tires on the new motorcycle. This required removing the saddlebag box on one side and was a pretty big job. We got to go on our maiden ride together yesterday evening and get a Hokulia to share. It's a lovely bike, and I'm super excited about it!
- I played the organ at church today (not too badly) and accompanied the Andersen kids who sang for Hartman's farewell. I also played in Primary. Fun day!
- Hartman's talk was FANTASTIC! He talked about representing the Savior and living your faith without regrets. I really felt the Spirit. He's going to be an excellent missionary! Peru is lucky to have him!
Lily and I were talking about the Brother of Jared during our race. She shared with me an insight she'd gotten from somewhere that the barges the Brother of Jared built were according to plans given him from the Lord and they were designed without light. The boat design inspired by the Lord required the people to turn to him for air and light. I love this idea - that even the inspired, divine things in my life have intentional difficulties that motivate me to turn to the Lord for help and guidance! Lovely!
I love you to the moon and back!
