Dearest Lily and Isaac,

My first semester back to school is officially over!

  • I spent hours and hours studying for Chemistry on Monday and Tuesday morning
  • I took my Chemistry final on Tuesday - got 89%. I was hoping for better, but I think it will get me an A-  ... hopefully
  • Jacob's fiance, Katie, had a bridal shower on Tuesday, so I drove down for that.  I love her!  She is just a perfect match for Jacob and will be a fabulous addition to the family.
  • Grandma has been sick, but she's doing better now.
  • I played the organ at the temple on Wednesday, which I love doing!
  • Thursday was shopping day - hopefully I got the right things to feed Lily what she wants...
  • Emmy and I went to see the new Pixar movie - Hopper.  We were the ONLY ONES in the theater, and it was so much fun!
  • Thursday night Emmy and I went down to Provo to see the premier of the Senior Capstone movie and game.  It was so fun!  We got to sit by Joseph and see his name on the big screen in the credits!
  • I hiked for an hour on Olympus with the ladies
  • On Saturday Dad and I did a training for Kathy to prep all the Brighton Camp counselors for the rappel station.  I enjoyed it!
  • Emmy sang at State Vocal Solo.  Dad and I got to go this time (I missed Region since I was at school).  She did great!  Debbie Bush played the piano, and the piano was horribly out of tune, but Emmy sounded lovely! She reminds me of how Lily sounded when she was a Junior.  So lovely!
  • I went to the shop for a while with Dad, cleaned the house, prepped Lily's bedroom and ran 8 miles on Saturday.
We had a lovely RS Meeting today.  Today was Ward Conference, and so the Stake RS was in charge.  They had asked everyone to prepare a scripture, hymn, or Conference talk that had blessed their lives.  The RS Pres (Leslie Ellis) and the Stake Pres each shared something and then the meeting was opened for anyone to share.  It was like a well-focused testimony meeting, and I loved it! 

My favorite was the last one that shared, Gracee Hardy.  She talked about the verses in Phil 4 that come before the famous "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Those verses talk about how he has learned to be content with where he's at - to be full and hungry at the same time.  She then shared how this scripture reminds us that we are all unfinished creatures.  We are all broken and incomplete.  And in this broken, unfinished state, we are still asked to love each other.  We are asked to love when we are broken.  We are asked to love broken people.  Christ will fix, finish, and perfect us all.  And while we are all in process, we still need to love and learn to rely on each other.  So uplifting!

Dearest Isaac, It's different to only have 1 missionary to write to... Lily came home on Wednesday!  Super fun to have her home! We went to a water polo game for Emmy to keep Lily awake that night and then ate at Spaghetti Factory! Lily and I got to go to the temple with Sister Ingram, a former companion of Lily's.  Then we got to go to lunch together.  Ingram is delightful!  I really like her We left on Friday to go to Zion and hiked Angel's Landing that night in 2 hours 10 minutes!  We were booking it! and caught the second to last shuttle down canyon... On Saturday we did Mystery Canyon.  Isaac, have you done that one? Jon Moffitt came with us, and he was super great to have along. My favorite thing was listening to Emmy, Joseph and Lily chat and laugh with each other! It is an enormous blessing to have children who are such good friends and are such lovely humans to hang out with!! I have been feeling extraordinarily blessed! We got home at about midnig...

Dearest Lily and Isaac, Conference weekend is the best!! Emmy had a water polo game in Springville on Monday.  I love watching her play! I attended 2 online workshops for medical career people this week.  Super fascinating!  I'm feeling a bit discouraged about getting all the work and volunteer hours I need, but grateful for all the resources the advisement center has to help me. I got to have lunch with Joseph twice this week AND he came home for Sunday General Conference Emmy and I did Confirmations at the Taylorsville temple Emmy and I also got to go to Hale to see a new musical called "Hallmarked". It was cute and funny, and I also had a fun small-world moment when I found out that the husband in the couple sitting next to us served his mission in Taichung at the same time as Dad and I! Dad and Emmy left for Taiwan on Thursday It snowed on Thursday ... it was 80 degrees earlier this week... I got to go to an acapella concert Joseph was in! So good!!! I took my last la...

 Dearest Isaac and Lily, This was a great week! President Oaks spoke at the BYU devotional.  I got there at 9:15 and was astonished beyond measure at how crowded it already was.  People were EVERYWHERE and the doors hadn't opened yet.  I was able to get a seat, though, and Joseph and some Jerusalem friends sat with me. Emmy had an appointment with Dr. Beals.  She's doing fine.  He said to just work through the pain - it's to be expected.  I also got to learn which tendon he moved and how the surgery worked.  It was absolutely fascinating! I got to play the organ at the temple and did some initiatories School has been really busy but I'm also feeling more confident and less stressed Emmy and Hana and I did baptisms on Saturday.  I haven't seen Hana in a while, so that was awesome!  We had a long chat about missionary service and what it would look like.  I don't know if she will serve a mission, but I figured that she can't even know...
