 Dearest Lily and Isaac,


So. Much. Happened. This. Week

  • Went to a fireside with Steven Sharp Nelson and his wife.  LOVED IT!  He served in Korea, and his son is serving in Korea right now.  I understood how cool that was for him!
  • I was officially released as the Stake Camp Director person.  I loved that calling, but it felt right to be released.
  • Dad and I went on a lovely Fall colors motorcycle ride up the canyon
  • We've been working like crazy on the fifth wheel
    • ripped out all the stained carpet
    • pulled up all the linoleum in the kitchen
    • bought and installed new stick down vinyl in the kitchen and where the carpet was
    • pulled off all the old, peeling vinyl stickers on the exterior
  • Isaac flew out to Japan on Wednesday.  Dad and Emmy and I went to see him off, but he blitzed through security and we missed him. (You could have waited for a minute... I'm pretty sure you knew we were coming).  Joseph missed him too since we were not informed that he wasn't going to use public transport and went on a chartered bus instead. (I should have had you give me ALL you travel info).
  • However!!  We bought me a cheap ticket to Phoenix on Frontier, so I could get through security and see him at the gate. It was awesome to see your district, Isaac (most of them anyway) and give them the little treat/game bags I'd prepared!  They are going to be awesome missionaries!
  • Had a cool conversation with a lady from China at the airport who approached me because Sister Gerdes and I were speaking Chinese and she wanted to know why 2 foreigners were speaking her language.
  • Went to the temple with Emmy and Hana again.  It was super fast this time!
  • In the midst of our fifth wheel work, Greg offered to help finish the walls in the guest room, so we've been doing that as well.  I'm SUPER grateful to Greg for helping.  This project has been lurking in the corner for YEARS!
  • I had another awesome organ lesson!
  • Also, I am no longer just a sub at the temple!  I have an actual shift to play the organ at the temple again!
  • Matt and Sammy had their wedding dinner on Thursday!  They had a little wedding ceremony as well.  Their sealing is on the 30th.  I am SO HAPPY for him!  She loves him because he is "good" and because he has faith.  He hasn't had a relationship that valued such things for decades!
  • We got to talk with Isaac and get his mission phone set up.  It was a huge hassle, and Dad missed the wedding ceremony trying to get things figured out, but it worked eventually and it was lovely to see him for a moment!
  • Emmy and I went to see "Sister Act" at Hale.  Loved it!  But most of all I loved spending time with my girl!
  • Went on a bike ride with Dad to Ruth's Diner and back!  Longest bike ride I've ever done, and it was super fun!
  • Emmy had HOCO yesterday.  She was GORGEOUS!!
  • We went to dinner with Nani and Papa last night. They are doing well.  They went out to the basin this week to do some winterizing things.
I know that was long, and you might not make it through all of it, but I did warn you that a lot happened this week!

Lily, we won't get to talk to Isaac today.  His mission has P-days on ...Tuesdays.  Sigh. Sad face.

Dearest Isaac, It's different to only have 1 missionary to write to... Lily came home on Wednesday!  Super fun to have her home! We went to a water polo game for Emmy to keep Lily awake that night and then ate at Spaghetti Factory! Lily and I got to go to the temple with Sister Ingram, a former companion of Lily's.  Then we got to go to lunch together.  Ingram is delightful!  I really like her We left on Friday to go to Zion and hiked Angel's Landing that night in 2 hours 10 minutes!  We were booking it! and caught the second to last shuttle down canyon... On Saturday we did Mystery Canyon.  Isaac, have you done that one? Jon Moffitt came with us, and he was super great to have along. My favorite thing was listening to Emmy, Joseph and Lily chat and laugh with each other! It is an enormous blessing to have children who are such good friends and are such lovely humans to hang out with!! I have been feeling extraordinarily blessed! We got home at about midnig...

Dearest Lily and Isaac, Conference weekend is the best!! Emmy had a water polo game in Springville on Monday.  I love watching her play! I attended 2 online workshops for medical career people this week.  Super fascinating!  I'm feeling a bit discouraged about getting all the work and volunteer hours I need, but grateful for all the resources the advisement center has to help me. I got to have lunch with Joseph twice this week AND he came home for Sunday General Conference Emmy and I did Confirmations at the Taylorsville temple Emmy and I also got to go to Hale to see a new musical called "Hallmarked". It was cute and funny, and I also had a fun small-world moment when I found out that the husband in the couple sitting next to us served his mission in Taichung at the same time as Dad and I! Dad and Emmy left for Taiwan on Thursday It snowed on Thursday ... it was 80 degrees earlier this week... I got to go to an acapella concert Joseph was in! So good!!! I took my last la...

 Dearest Isaac and Lily, This was a great week! President Oaks spoke at the BYU devotional.  I got there at 9:15 and was astonished beyond measure at how crowded it already was.  People were EVERYWHERE and the doors hadn't opened yet.  I was able to get a seat, though, and Joseph and some Jerusalem friends sat with me. Emmy had an appointment with Dr. Beals.  She's doing fine.  He said to just work through the pain - it's to be expected.  I also got to learn which tendon he moved and how the surgery worked.  It was absolutely fascinating! I got to play the organ at the temple and did some initiatories School has been really busy but I'm also feeling more confident and less stressed Emmy and Hana and I did baptisms on Saturday.  I haven't seen Hana in a while, so that was awesome!  We had a long chat about missionary service and what it would look like.  I don't know if she will serve a mission, but I figured that she can't even know...
