 Dearest Isaac and Lily,

Crazy crazy week...

  • We had a birthday dinner at Nani and Papa's house to celebrate Nani's 81st birthday! Joseph came up for it, and it was great to see him.
  • Dad and I worked on the fifth wheel.  We got the carpet all ripped out that we are going to replace.  No more pink edged carpet from when the Black Cherry exploded one winter or black goo from where mouse traps got overturned!!!
  • I sent Isaac his final MTC package and included little angel charms for each member of his district.
  • Dad and I left on Thursday to go to Lake Powell
  • We drove the waverunners from our camping spot down to Gregory Bridge (Dad wakefoiled under this bridge a few years ago, if you remember) which is exposed for only the second time in my lifetime.
  • There was a big rainstorm while we were there with waterfalls and a double rainbow and everything!  It washed out the end of the little cove where we were camped, and I loved every minute of it!
  • I pulled Dad skiing behind our waverunner!
  • There was a muscle boat race at Lake Powell this weekend, that we got to see.  It was pretty awesome!
  • We winterized the boat.  It took us a couple hours longer than we hoped it would, so we ended up staying the night in Beaver (at the Van D's hotel!) and drove home this morning in time for church
  • I got a new calling!  I was released as a Sunday School Teacher and called to two callings: Primary Pianist and Ward Organist!  With all the pressure I've been feeling from the Lord to work on and improve my organ playing skills lately, this seemed like an inspired call. And they are both pretty low key - just enough pressure to get me to practice more.
I wish I had a cool spiritual thought this week.  I just felt super grateful for this beautiful world that God made for us.  It's a magical place!

Also, remember to love people.  Isaac asked me this week how to deal with feeling down because the people around you don't want to work as hard as you do.  I thought I'd share my response. I have found in my life personally that when I give it my best, the Lord never cuts me short.  Even when the people around me don't work as hard as I would like, which makes it hard for me to work as hard as I like, he makes up the difference.  And the better I am at remembering that people are more important that the rules, or me, or the language, etc. the happier I am!

Remember the two great commandments are about love - not about work!

Love you to the moon and back!

Mom
